ATTORNEY & CLIENT ARE SANCTIONED FOR HIDING SOCIAL MEDIAL DATA

An attorney and his client who won a large verdic in a personal injury case in Verginia saw it all fade away because the client following the attorney's advise took down a Facebook account on which the client has posted photographs that were revevant to the case and hide photographs that had been posted. A six million dollar verdic was reduced by the Court to $2,100,000 and the client was ordered to pay $180,000 to the defendants and the attorney was not only ordered to remit $542,000 the Court turned him over to the Virginia State Bar Ethics Counsel.

The moral is postings on social media sites can not only harm one's recovery in a case, but if posts are made they should not be removed or hidden. Either way the case can be harmed. DO NOT POST INIFORMATION ABOUT YOUR CASE ON SOCIAL MEDIA SITES.
